Syracuse Style 2015

  • Sep 17, 2015

Tonight, 96 models will walk the runway on Walton Street for the sixth annual presentation of Syracuse Style. The free event is co-produced by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. and Syracuse Fashion Week. Starting at 7:30 pm, the community is invited to watch as the latest styles in men, women and children’s fashions, jewelry, accessories and eyewear are revealed. Men, women and children models will walk an 80-foot-lighted runway, showcasing fall fashion styles from 18 downtown retail shops and three designers. Four downtown salons provide hair and makeup for the models.

“Syracuse Style is the premier fashion event in Syracuse,” said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Committee. “We hope the community will join us to experience Downtown’s retail strengths through the uniqueness of our clothing retailers, boutiques and salons. With the variety of retail shops located within 82 blocks, Downtown Syracuse is Central New York’s destination for high quality fashion.”
The 2014 edition of Syracuse Style was recognized by the International Downtown Association (IDA) with a Downtown Merit Award in the events and programming category. This award recognizes programs across the country that improve the image and vitality of downtowns with events that promote and attract visitors. Last year, Syracuse Style drew more than 1,500 spectators.
“The tradition blends fashion and commerce, art and business, creativity and advertising,” said Lisa Butler, executive director of Syracuse Fashion Week and owner of Inspired Designs. “Each year, the event brings new attention to Downtown Syracuse and unites the community while highlighting local businesses, retailers, boutiques, salons, artists and designers.”
This year, CBS 5’s Michael Benny will return as one of the emcees of Syracuse Style, alongside Beth Boorn of I-Heart Radio. For your planning purposes, Walton Street will close to traffic as of 2:00 pm this afternoon, as the runway is set up.
Although the event is free to attend, there are a select number of VIP tickets still available. For $50, attendees will get front row access to the runway, and receive a gift bag filled with coupons, gift cards and other surprise perks. Those who purchase VIP tickets are also invited to a pre-show party at Empire Brewing Co., where they may enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres. New this year, guests may purchase street seat high-top tables for $160, for a table of four people. Each table will receive a bottle of red and white wine from Owera Vineyards as well as chocolates from Sweet on Chocolate. Those who purchase a high-top table also receive a gift bag. Both VIP tickets and street seat high-tops are available at Empire Brewing Co., or may be purchased through Eventbrite. All proceeds from VIP tickets and street seat high-tops benefit the Food Bank of Central New York.
After the show, everyone is invited to attend a post-show party at the Blue Tusk, located at 165 Walton Street.
