Tonight, 96 models will walk the runway on Walton Street for the sixth annual presentation of Syracuse Style. The free event is co-produced by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. and Syracuse Fashion Week. Starting at 7:30 pm, the community is invited to watch as the latest styles in men, women and children’s fashions, jewelry, accessories and eyewear are revealed. Men, women and children models will walk an 80-foot-lighted runway, showcasing fall fashion styles from 18 downtown retail shops and three designers. Four downtown salons provide hair and makeup for the models.
We’re kicking off Syracuse Fashion Week Fall 2015 with the 3rd annual presentation of the Landmark Theatre Window Project. The Window Project intersects fashion & commerce; art & business; creativity & advertising. The project will bring people downtown and celebrate local businesses in an historic venue. Any and all businesses, designers and artists are welcome to participate.
At first thought, one might wonder what fashion and beer could possibly have in common. Most people associate big liquor companies with flashy new products, or expensive bubbly champagne with runway fashion shows. We first discovered that fashion and beer go together quite well a few years ago when we started Syracuse Style. I am not talking about your everyday, run of the mill, pedestrian light lager. I am talking about craft beer. Beer with full flavor and character. Beer brewed with passion and artistry. Think about couture gowns with sprawling head pieces and abstract silhouettes. Then think about a hand crafted local beer, made with ginger, lavender and a touch of lemon peel. Both out of the ordinary, both made with passion and artistry.
